Plans for upcoming service unit events were discussed.
October 17th 2011
It has been a busy fall and we know that many of you have put in some hard work to make our Fall Membership Campaign a success. To keep us moving in the right direction we have created a few key points for the whole service team to be working on to ensure that we are providing our volunteers with the best support that we can.
New Volunteer Support:
· Every new volunteer should be receiving an orientation to the service unit. This orientation can be conducted by any member of the service team. Please see the Service Team Guide to Volunteer Support pages 35-40 for more information. Also, please ensure that after any volunteer has received an orientation that you send their name and the date it was completed to one of us as the office, we are tracking the information and it is very important!
· New volunteers should also be receiving ongoing mentoring support. This can be implemented in a number of ways: one-on-one, by grade-level within the service unit, by school or even by neighborhood. Please see the Service Team Guide to Volunteer Support page 11 for more information on that this could look like in your service unit. Do you know how your service unit is supporting and mentoring new leaders? How are you communicating this to ensure that all new leaders are being supported?
Membership:
· Registration: We still have troops that have not registered yet. Please help get their registrations in by October 28, 2011. An unregistered troop cannot participate in the Fall Product Sale and they are no longer covered under the Girl Scout insurance policy.
· Recruitment: It’s not too late to offer the opportunity of Girl Scouts. Let’s make recruiting a year round event and available for every girl!
Product Sales:
· Product sales consultants and service teams: Work with your registrars to be sure that all troops that are registered have the opportunity to participate in the fall sale. Those troops that registered on-time and participate in the fall sale will earn an additional $.05 per package during the 2012 cookie sale!
Communication:
· Key messages about Girl Scouting are important year round and especially during fall recruitment. Communications consultants, membership recruiters and service unit managers have recently been emailed key messaging that can be used in school newsletters, faith based bulletins and other promotional purposes. Please be on the lookout for these brief messages and use them.
Thank you for your continued hard work!
