OPPORTUNITIES
East Dayton and Mad River Leaders:
Please see message below from Program Specialist Carrie Hurley. Great stuff….don’t forget to register as early as you can, as many of these programs will fill up soon--especially the Forever Green workshop!
Council Sponsored Events that are coming up soon (or the deadline to register is approaching):
100th Anniversary Scavenger Hunt and Patch Design Contest
· This year girls can participate in a special 100th Anniversary Scavenger Hunt. Participates will earn a special commemorative patch by completing a specified number of tasks.
· There are 100 tasks on the Scavenger Hunt. To earn the patch you must complete the designated number of tasks for your age level:
· Daisies: 20, Brownies: 40, Juniors: 60, Cadettes/Seniors/Ambassadors: 80
· The patch that girls will earn through this program will be designed by the Girl’s themselves! Troops or individual girls can design a patch and submit it to the 100th Anniversary Scavenger Hunt Patch Design Contest. Submissions are due to your regional office by December 1, 2011. Please see the flyer for regulations and more information!
NEW—My Promise, My Faith Award
New this year from GSUSA is the My Promise, My Faith religious award. Girls can earn this award once a year for every year they are in Girl Scouts. These new awards do not replace the previous religious awards but are for girls to earn in addition to them. Check out the Handbook section of your New Girl’s Guide to Girl Scouting for requirements and look for more information to come at next month’s service unit meeting!
Upcoming community sponsored events ( I have already emailed these flyers out):
Dayton Art Institute – Workshops for the Norman Rockwell Exhibit (BJCSA)
Dayton Opera – 2/24 Workshop includes ticket to Romeo & Juliet (JCSA)
